Colgate University, Hamilton, N.Y.
Rolling hills across the Colgate University campus inspired the scheme for this college classroom facility. A prominent internal stairway follows the alpine contour of the site as it descends to an open common-purpose space, well serviced with natural light as a hedge against the bitter winter cold so typical of the institution’s upstate locale. The design features single loading off a corridor that groups classrooms on one side and exhilarating views of the campus on the other.
