A large summer residence on Newport’s Ocean Drive enjoys sweeping views of Rhode Island Sound and Narragansett Bay. The clients were looking for a classic Shingle Style house with a pool and separate but attached guest accommodations. Steeply-pitched gables dominate the roof scheme and a continuous wraparound porch serves the ground floor. The location overlooking a scenic, well-traveled roadway advocated for careful consideration of grade and landscape treatment to ensure that vehicles passing by would not be visible from the primary living spaces. Of note, a large open kitchen obliges the owners’ passion for cooking and entertaining.
